Krista Seiden

Krista Seiden is the Chief Instructor for KS Digital Academy courses and the Principal Digital Analytics Consultant with KS Digital, an analytics consultancy she founded in 2019, helping businesses make the most of their investments in digital marketing and analytics. Previously, Krista was VP, Product Marketing & Growth at Quantcast. Prior to that, she was at Google for nearly 7 years, where she led Product Management efforts across the Google Marketing Platform and served as the external evangelist for the Google Analytics suite of products. Week 1: Google Analytics Basics

In Week 1, we'll focus on getting you up to speed with the Google Analytics user interface so you'll know where to go and what to do as soon as you login. You'll learn about a ton of out of the box features and how to take advantage of them to set your business apart.

  • What is Digital Analytics: We'll cover everything from how a cookie works to what is a user, session, and hit.

  • Google Analytics Today: We'll start with a short history of where the product has been, and quickly move into today's use cases and configuration best practices to get you comfortable with the overall structure.

  • Google Analytics User Interface Walkthrough: We'll make sense of the dozens of reports you come across when you login so you know exactly what to do for your use cases.

  • Getting More out of Google Analytics: Anyone can click around in the interface, but knowing how to use the advanced out of the box features will set you apart!

Week 2: Google Analytics Advanced Skills

In Week 2, we'll build on our basic knowledge from week 1 and add a ton of additional capabilities and best practice tips to help you get even more out of Google Analytics. You'll learn skills that will set you apart from other analysts and help you make others go "Oh wow, I didn't know you could do that!"

  • Google Analytics Account Structure: We'll cover the ins and outs of the admin section and help you customize your account to meet your business' needs.

  • Moving Beyond Out-of-the-Box Features: You'll learn skills to set you apart by taking advantage of things like Custom Dimensions, Custom Metrics, Events, and more.

  • Organizing Your Data: We'll learn how to organize and customize how your Google Analytics data is structured, from attribution windows to Custom Channel Groupings.

  • Analyzing Your Data: You'll learn how to master analysis beyond standard reports. Custom reports and Analysis will help you drive deeper and more impactful insights for your organization.

Week 3: Beyond Google Analytics

In Week 3, we'll cap off our learnings on the ins and outs of Google Analytics by deep-diving on how to go beyond the tool's interface. You'll learn how to get your data out of Google Analytics, get an understanding of supplemental tools that can help you drive even more insights when paired with GA data, and learn about the additional benefits of Google Analytics 360.

  • Getting Data out of Google Analytics: Learn the many ways to take data out for further analysis and manipulation, including downloads, Google Data Studio, BigQuery, and the GA API.

  • Google Analytics 360: We'll cover the many advantages of the Enterprise version of Google Analytics. If you're already a customer, you'll learn how to make the most of it, and if not, you'll get an understanding of GA360 and how to gauge your company's needs, or work around them with what you have.

  • Supplemental Tools: There are a ton of other tools out there that can help you improve your insights and analysis, and many of them, when paired with Google Analytics, combine quantitative and qualitative data that will provide learnings to set you apart from the competition.

  • What is the format of this course?

    This course is run in an On Demand format. Lesson content is available as pre-recorded videos, so that you can watch and learn at your own pace. It is recommended that you go through the content of the course over at least 3 weeks to give yourself enough time to digest the content and apply your course learnings. There is also a Slack community where other students and Krista will be active throughout the course to help answer your questions in near real time.

  • How is this course different than the Google Analytics Academy courses?

    In terms of course curriculum, Krista Seiden wrote both the Analytics Academy courses for Google, and her own Google Analytics Masterclass course, and can assure you that the content is quite different in depth, style, and delivery. The Analytics Academy courses are great, but they stick to high level concepts and do not go into a lot of real life examples. In KS Digital Academy's Google Analytics Masterclass course, we go through many real life examples, using both slides decks and direct interaction with the GA UI, to help you really grasp the concepts and how to use them.

  • How long will the course materials be available for?

    You will have access to course materials for 60 days after you enroll so that you have enough time to complete all of the curriculum at your own pace and earn your certificate of completion.

  • I'm an Adobe Analytics user transitioning to Google Analytics, will this course help?

    Yes! There are sections of the course that do cover some comparisons between the two platforms.
